Pelosi Happy Bush Left
It is somewhat telling of how Congress felt of former-President Bush as Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives tells San Francisco Bay reporters: “It felt like a 10-pound anvil was lifted off my head.”
No doubt that there was much animosity between the former President and those in Congress. Much has been reported on regarding the accusations, primarily from Congress to W, on who’s fault it was on the direction of this country.
But should I care what little-miss-Nancy believes?
Since gaining the seat of Speaker, Pelosi, with the help of Harry Reid, led Congress to tie its lowest approval rating in history. This was coupled with the continual approval of appropriations to which they then claimed their disapproval.
There’s no doubt that many of the decisions presented by the Bush Administration were questionable at best. So how did they pass? I believe that Democrats have held majorities in Congress since the last mid-term elections. They have also held enough members to procedurally block any motions that came from the Bush Administration.
This is also the same Congress that forgot to set guidelines to the distribution of moneys set up poorly by the Bush Administration. It is odd to complain of the budget shortfalls “caused” by the Bush Administration, but to then frivolously hand out money to businesses with poor practices and not ask questions? Then to conveniently forget to whom that money went?
Presidents do come and go, but I won’t feel like there is a 10-pound anvil lifted from my head until the poor examples of our representatives are removed from office. And that is especially meant for you, Pelosi.
