Now this is rather weak, but still holds water in the principle.  Ranking 2nd in the senate, Obama received just over $100,000 in campaign donations from the demonized AIG.

Of course the U.S. government, including the Obama administration, is slamming AIG after it fulfilled contractual obligations (which were allowed through a clause in federal funding from the new Secretary of Treasury, more on that later) giving bonuses to 73 employees and former employees.

Sure, $100,000 is paltry compared to the $1,000,000+ these executives received.  It still is the principle of the matter.  It is standard for companies to donate to various government officials and campaigns, but should it be allowed in this climate?  They are arguing over contractual obligations, shouldn’t non-contractual, unnecessary expenditures be even more frowned upon?  Oh wait though, that money went to the politicians, so that’s ok.

It’s all about principle… which is so obviously absent from both businesses and politicians alike.
